Either or, depending on their mood. It’s not unusual for a cat to play with their prey until they tire of them, then kill them.

[ Though it may be a grim subject, Felix speaks of it casually; the nature of cats is something he’s observed many times over, growing up. ]

As a child, there was a particular cat that would bring dead birds to my doorstep. I caught it in the act once and tried to stop it, but cats are born hunters. They don’t understand pity.

[ Felix had cried and buried each of those birds. He doesn't mention that. ]
