[ It's been a few days since the first arrivals trickled in to this iteration of the monastery, and there's been some improvement to the area, at least.
Which is fortunate, really, because the clouds have finally decided to open up and let out a torrential downpour.
The grass out in the courtyard almost immediately becomes saturated with water, squishing beneath people's feet as they step through it. Drainage in the monastery is a real problem in some parts, particularly near the marketplace area. Slowly, as time passes, pools begin to form, though some of the remaining debris serves as a decent buffer between the water and whatever crates merchants may have left behind. It may be a good idea to salvage some of that, though it's not likely to be ruined thanks to said debris. In general, it's likely a rude awakening for any new arrivals.
Of course, some would say that rainy days are the best when it comes to fishing; some would even say they're right, given how the fish seem to be out in droves at the lake. If one didn't mind potentially getting soaked, they could bring in a real haul during this rainstorm. The dining hall is not nearly as well stocked as it had been in its heyday, so this could potentially be beneficial for the community.
For some, it's likely best to stay inside and find shelter from the rain. Thankfully, most of the monastery roofing seems to be intact, save for a few sizeable holes in the cathedral. Still, that doesn't mean there isn't a leak here and there, so watch your step, particularly in the dining hall and the second floor of the dormitories as well. It might not be a bad idea to put a few buckets out to catch all that water . . . ]

[[ MORE HOUSEKEEPING, hey what's up guys:
- please PM this journal if there are more setting changes you'd like to be noted! i.e. if your character did some sprucing up in the greenhouse, just let me know and I will update the setting page accordingly.
- as noted on the "mod" plurk, I'll try putting up open posts roughly once a week going forward. it'll depend on how things are going, no big. ]]

[Felix, ever the pot calling the kettle black, folds his arms as he stares at Flayn's... get-up, for the lack of a better word. Still, that's a rather impressive haul she's starting to build...]
no subject
Flayn turns around, mouth falling open and eyebrows raised. Felix is here too? How...how many of her former classmates, whether in the Professor's class or not, had found themselves in this strange version of Garreg Mach?
Oh, wait, he asked her something. Flayn blinks, clears her throat pointedly.]
Ah! Well, that is something that may be the case...but I am willing to attempt fishing if it means everyone gets to have something to eat for dinner.
[It's just three fish...I mean, they could make a fish soup? With just fish? Unless someone found some pathetic root vegetables?]
no subject
[If the fishy smell wafting from the dining hall is any indication...]
There should be more than enough now, and if we gather too much, the fish will spoil.
no subject
[Still, she wanted to help...but if the fish go bad, then that's just as bad as not helping at all. With a shrug and a little sigh, Flayn begins to pull in her line.]
How are you today, Felix? Well, I hope.
[Casual conversation, she can totally do that. In the rain. Yes.]
no subject
[It's a relief not seeing Dimitri around in any case, that's for certain. As Flayn pulls her line, Felix will make a move to pick up her basket of fish, if she'll allow it.]
And you? Don't tell me you've been out here the whole afternoon.
no subject
[I mean she didn't admit to it completely so you can't prove she has. When the line is all in, Flayn wraps it with utmost care and rests the rod on her shoulder. She could hide it under the fishkeeper's little shelter...or, well, what's left of it, and it should be fine.]
Anyway, I am fine, thank you.
no subject
[Like catching a cold. Either way, he'll take Flayn's word for it as he carefully holds the basket.]
Anyway, let's get you all in the dining hall.
[He saw some towels there too, perhaps Flayn could use them...]
no subject
[Is there even any medicine to be had? Perhaps in the infirmary?]
...Thank you very much, Felix.
no subject
[Felix has a couple of vulneraries on his person, to say the least of it.
That aside, he leads the way back to the dining hall in silence, setting the basket on one of the still intact tables. His gaze wanders to the stack of towels left on another table, grabbing one for himself. He's about to offer one to Flayn, but catching sight of her once more, he hesitates.]
...You should get all those off.
[Referring to all the ridiculous layers she had on.]
no subject
[She's already starting to peel off the outer layer as they come inside, and honestly, Flayn is hoping she can lay out these cloths out somewhere so the puddles they leave behind from drying out don't cause anyone to slip...maybe there are chairs no one happens to be using? Yes, okay, let's lay out the first layer over top one chair...
There's a considerable amount of layers of rough fabrics, salvaged sheets, etc. piled on Flayn's person. It's almost comical.]
Hmm...the water penetrated further than I thought it might...
no subject
[Felix raises a brow as each comes off. Where did Flayn even manage to get all of these...?]
Do you need help with that?
no subject
Determined, this one.]
No, I should be fine, thank you. It is only a little damp cloth.
[It's a lot of damp - oh, fine. Flayn keeps going, gently laying out lengths of fabric on chairs, until it's very clear that she's going to fill up an entire table's worth.
At least the last few, wrapped directly around her, are dry. And her clothes are dry! If very, very wrinkled.]
no subject
Any preference for how these are cooked? [Felix asks as he begins to gut the second fish. One each for them should be enough, and judging by the barrel of processed fish they already have, they won't be hurting in terms of supply any time soon...]
no subject
[No point in being picky when they only have so much, after all. Also, Felix, don't let her cook. For your health and safety.]
Will you need any help?
no subject
[Guess who doesn't know of Flayn's dangerous kitchen misadventures...]
...Though I guess it wouldn't hurt if you could get a fire started.
no subject
[She's happy to come over and give the stove, or...whatever they cook on in the dining hall...a once-over, checking to see if there's any fuel or things to start an actual fire with.]
Hm...there's some wood...it looks fairly dry...
[Are...are there matches? Let's see if we can find matches.]
no subject
[Felix peers over from where he's cleaning up.]
I usually use Thoron to light things up, though Fire should be more effective if you know it.
[It's dangerous, but it works!]
no subject
I do know Fire! Let me try that...
[We're just going to step back a bit once the wood's in there, aim very carefully, and...
fwOOSH
There's fire in the stove now.]
Wow...!
no subject
...Good. You have some nice control right there.
[It would have been easy to set everything on fire, after all.
Grabbing one of the pans, he sets it over the fire, waiting for it to warm before he throws in the prepared fish.]

[Can't make it to Gremory without mastering Reason, after all.]
