[ It's been a few days since the first arrivals trickled in to this iteration of the monastery, and there's been some improvement to the area, at least.
Which is fortunate, really, because the clouds have finally decided to open up and let out a torrential downpour.
The grass out in the courtyard almost immediately becomes saturated with water, squishing beneath people's feet as they step through it. Drainage in the monastery is a real problem in some parts, particularly near the marketplace area. Slowly, as time passes, pools begin to form, though some of the remaining debris serves as a decent buffer between the water and whatever crates merchants may have left behind. It may be a good idea to salvage some of that, though it's not likely to be ruined thanks to said debris. In general, it's likely a rude awakening for any new arrivals.
Of course, some would say that rainy days are the best when it comes to fishing; some would even say they're right, given how the fish seem to be out in droves at the lake. If one didn't mind potentially getting soaked, they could bring in a real haul during this rainstorm. The dining hall is not nearly as well stocked as it had been in its heyday, so this could potentially be beneficial for the community.
For some, it's likely best to stay inside and find shelter from the rain. Thankfully, most of the monastery roofing seems to be intact, save for a few sizeable holes in the cathedral. Still, that doesn't mean there isn't a leak here and there, so watch your step, particularly in the dining hall and the second floor of the dormitories as well. It might not be a bad idea to put a few buckets out to catch all that water . . . ]

[[ MORE HOUSEKEEPING, hey what's up guys:
- please PM this journal if there are more setting changes you'd like to be noted! i.e. if your character did some sprucing up in the greenhouse, just let me know and I will update the setting page accordingly.
- as noted on the "mod" plurk, I'll try putting up open posts roughly once a week going forward. it'll depend on how things are going, no big. ]]

Tiny. Edelgard drops the small bucket in surprise as she stares down the small boy. His appearance nostalgic and frighteningly familiar. However it's his age that strikes her as so horrifying. After dealing with a Dimitri her age seeing him so small... so young...
It's almost as if she sees a ghost. The ghost of a young man she tried to have killed more than once.]
Dimitri?
[Is all she can muster.]

Yes.
( Some of the annoyance faded from his expression, replaced instead by uncertainty. She was like Felix, years older than him. Had he caught her off guard being this age?
He reached up, carefully ringing a bit of water out of his bangs before pushing them back and out of his face again. )
Would you like some assistance? ( Assuming her goal wasn't to drench whoever walked by, of course. )

[Her answer is quick, but nearly breathless as she still struggles to do anything more than contrast the image of Dimitri in front of her with the scraggly beast of a man that she has seen walk around the monastery. It really is startling to see the difference.
Edelgard composes herself in time. With the shock gone from her expression she turns as icy as ever while picking up the bucket.
Despite being step-siblings she has never seen him as family. They were not raised as such, and they did not know each other as such until they had already been parted. That year they spent together is so far from Edelgard's mind that childhood amnesia has settled in and she doesn't connect the boy she played with as a child to be the same person as Dimitri the heir to the Holy Kingdom.
To her the prince had been nothing but an obstacle turned enemy. A hurdle turned into a stone wall. Someone she'd be sure to break and step over as rubble on her way to her goals.
But here her goals are as cloudy as the sky above. No way to achieve them so no need to kill. Especially if there is a chance the dead might be revived and come for her in such a confined space.]
The best thing for you to do is dry yourself by the fire in the Knight's Hall. Otherwise you will catch cold.

It made his thoughts turn to the dagger he had found only just recently after confronting the Flame Emperor. To see Edelgard in this way made his mind return to those suspicions he'd had as he held that blade in his hand.
But Dimitri stopped those thoughts before they could venture further. Now was not the time. They were both stuck in this shadow of the monastery, and with a similar goal in mind to tend to it, they were better off working together. They could address whatever differences or hostilities may hang between them when the heavens weren't crashing down on them in such a torrential downpour. )
Edelgard. ( He started calmly, though there was a hardness in his expression now. A stubbornness that said he would not be sent away so easily. ) Your tasks will be be completed much more quickly with assistance. ( To emphasize his point, he took a few steps away towards another bucket which he picked up with ease with a single hand. )
You would do well to dry yourself as well. ( He added, frowning at the other before turning his attention to the bucket in his hand. He drained it easily, well away from her to prevent a splash in her direction. Once he'd done so, his attention was back on her. Waiting to hear her argument, prepared to challenge her resolve. )

[She places the empty bucket back under the leak in the roof. She considers leaving, but instead decides decides to linger. She's hoping that perhaps revealing an ugly truth will set some boundaries.]
After all, if you were to die I would be responsible for your death. And if that is the case I'd rather to do so by my own hand and choice. Not by accident.
