[ It's been a few days since the first arrivals trickled in to this iteration of the monastery, and there's been some improvement to the area, at least.
Which is fortunate, really, because the clouds have finally decided to open up and let out a torrential downpour.
The grass out in the courtyard almost immediately becomes saturated with water, squishing beneath people's feet as they step through it. Drainage in the monastery is a real problem in some parts, particularly near the marketplace area. Slowly, as time passes, pools begin to form, though some of the remaining debris serves as a decent buffer between the water and whatever crates merchants may have left behind. It may be a good idea to salvage some of that, though it's not likely to be ruined thanks to said debris. In general, it's likely a rude awakening for any new arrivals.
Of course, some would say that rainy days are the best when it comes to fishing; some would even say they're right, given how the fish seem to be out in droves at the lake. If one didn't mind potentially getting soaked, they could bring in a real haul during this rainstorm. The dining hall is not nearly as well stocked as it had been in its heyday, so this could potentially be beneficial for the community.
For some, it's likely best to stay inside and find shelter from the rain. Thankfully, most of the monastery roofing seems to be intact, save for a few sizeable holes in the cathedral. Still, that doesn't mean there isn't a leak here and there, so watch your step, particularly in the dining hall and the second floor of the dormitories as well. It might not be a bad idea to put a few buckets out to catch all that water . . . ]

[[ MORE HOUSEKEEPING, hey what's up guys:
- please PM this journal if there are more setting changes you'd like to be noted! i.e. if your character did some sprucing up in the greenhouse, just let me know and I will update the setting page accordingly.
- as noted on the "mod" plurk, I'll try putting up open posts roughly once a week going forward. it'll depend on how things are going, no big. ]]

[Well, Felix won't be needing any telling twice. He rises as well, plate forgotten as he starts marching towards the training grounds.]

It's fine. They're both short. She won't have to hurry much to avoid falling behind. When they do arrive at the training grounds she'll be eyeing up the wooden weapons.]
no subject
Ready?
no subject
The third one is fine. For a wooden weapon at least. The Emperor gives it a practiced twirl before assuming a battle ready stance.]
Absolutely.

When Edelgard pulls upwards like that, Felix ends up exposing his torso as a result of his attempts to keep his sword from flying out of his hand. It does create an opening, but Felix is prepared to aim a kick at whatever comes his way. All is fair in love and war, so to speak.]

That's if he lets her get that close.]

[Without hesitation she charges again. This time she grabs at him with one hand and rushes him against the wall. Her elbow tilted upward so her forearm is pressing from his clavicle up to his throat diagonally. Her free hand grabs one of his wrists and pins that to the wall too. She's glad she caught him. Unlike Dimitri, who is a tank, Felix is small and wily. If given enough room he'd probably dodge her all day with ease.
She grips him hard. It might hurt a little. She's close, too. Not needing to speak above a hushed whisper for him to hear her.]
Do you yield?
no subject
No.
[Because his legs are still free, and can still knee Edelgard on the thigh--which he attempts to do. Part of him feels like he'll regret this, but another part of him thinks he'll regret it more if he doesn't give it his all, and the latter currently is winning out.]

It causes her to lean. Hunched over him she looks down at his indignant face. The eyes that look at her like she means nothing. That mouth that speaks of her like she means nothing. His face with his damned expression. It makes her want to crush his bone and rip out his tongue.
But all she does is stare with fury. She makes absolutely sure not to break him even as she glares daggers into him. The hair that falls loose on either side of his face falls down to tickle his cheek. His legs may still be free but she will use weight and gravity and strength of muscle to keep him down.]
We can stay here all day if you like.

Still, her anger has laughter bubbling out of his throat. Who knew her prim and proper demeanor hid so much of this childish arrogance?]
Are you really that determined to make me concede?
no subject
[He laughs and she frowns. A crease forming at her brows when they knit together. At least he's not struggling anymore. She wonders how long she needs to keep him pinned before he accepts defeat.
Just long enough for someone to see them like that, probably]no subject
[Felix says, smirking. Any other time, this would have been completely humiliating for him, but seeing how worked up Edelgard is about the situation more or less assuages his pride, petty as it is.]
Very well... I yield.
[And so, the words spill easily out of his mouth, almost jokingly so.]

I can tell you are skilled. Were we not in such a close range you probably would have had a decent advantage on me.
[She knows where her weaknesses lie after all. Hubert does not hesitate to tell her when she's done something reckless on the battlefield. The Emperor begins to dismount him, and should Felix decide not to retaliate she will also offer a hand to help him up.]
no subject
Considering how he's been acting, the compliment surprises him a bit, but any of it displayed on his face is momentary, and he calmly accepts Edelgard's outstretched hand.]
Probably, [he says, grunting as he gets to his feet,] but the only way we can tell for certain is if there's a next time.
[Ever on the look out for suitable opponents, Felix smiles faintly once more, this time more sincerely.]
no subject
Then perhaps... you would not mind if I called on you to let off a little steam in the future?
no subject
[Even if it'll be a challenge.]
It's been tough finding worthy sparring partners around here.
no subject
If that is the case then I too shall encourage you to call upon me for such an occasion.
[Wow it's like winning totally had her blow off all the rude things he said. Fancy that!]
no subject
[It's really funny how Edelgard puffing up like that makes her look a bit like a bird. Another chuckle escapes him, but at least he could excuse it now as a response to her statement.]
For now, I guess we both have our own things to do around the monastery.
no subject
[A smile and a polite wave. With those she'll part from him with little other fanfare.]
