A mist settles in over the monastery.

Is it morning? Night? Who can say? Today, the day feels endless. The sun is nowhere to be seen — or had it been at all? Instead, a curious green glow engulfs Garreg Mach, like an eternal twilight settling in. Time seems to be paused almost, though the wildlife in and around the area continues to act as though nothing is wrong. As though this is perfectly normal. As though it is natural for the skies to be dark, with not a single star in sight, and for the sun to be forgotten in the mist that lingers. The paths are at least lit by small orbs of light, fireflies flitting about.

However, should one come into contact with one of those fireflies, a memory of the past will be projected for all in the close vicinity to see. Joyous occasions, tragic events — they don't seem to discern one way or another. Perhaps it would be best to watch your step for now, though.

Of course, after lingering for about a day, the strange ambience will fade into what appears to be a normal night at Garreg Mach. It's as if nothing had happened at all. Did it? Or was it all simply a shared hallucination?

[ ● MEMSHARE POST. Coming into contact with the fireflies will share a memory of your character's with those around them. You can top-level with a memory to start out or have people tag you and determine it then, whatever. I don't make the rules (except I do and I say yolo). Have fun with it!
● Open posts like this one are flipping to a two week schedule instead of a weekly one.
● Because of the above, the last bit is there for people who'd maybe like to play out aftermath threads later on but don't want to wait for a new post or make a new one.

...So he's like me.

[Alive, but changed. A distorted projection of what he once was. How sad. She would have given anything to protect that bright smile of his.]

You're not incorrect.

[Felix takes a sip of his tea, taking another slow breath.]

But what's done is done. There's no use in dwelling on the past.

[Says a person still bound by it, no matter how he tries to posture otherwise.]

That is some pretty bitter medicine, Felix. Do you take it yourself?

[She appreciates his help, she truly does. Her sharp reply is out of gratitude, not disrespect. Because a man like him... he doesn't like sweet things. So she will not be sweet. Instead she will be a reflection of him to show Felix how his words sound coming from someone so similar.]

[For a moment, he's taken aback, unsure what brought about this sudden change in demeanor in Edelgard. But once he gets over his initial surprise, he narrows his eyes at Edelgard, not really liking how it sounds.]

I try.

[The cup lands back on the plate with a clatter much louder than is warranted. Guess who doesn't like getting served a taste of his own medicine.]

[Yes, that is about the reaction she expected. Edelgard sips the final drops of her own tea before taking the pot and filling her cup. All the while she avoids his gaze like he had done to her earlier.]

I suppose that is all one can ask of another.

[She made her point, and he can't even be mad--much. That'd require much of the pot with regard to calling the kettle black, after all.]

Whatever. Do what you want.

[Which might as well be the case, childish as it sounds, considering he's about done with his tea anyway.]

I will. However before you leave Felix I want to thank you.

[Gently she rests her cup on its saucer. A steep contrast to the way he brought his down.]

You were more than just a sparring partner today.

[You were a friend. However considering he lives in a world where he probably helped kill her that's probably not the best thing to say. So she doesn't.

To protect her own vulnerability, and his.]

Anyway, you may be excused. That is all I had to say.

[After the rollercoaster of mimicry she took him through, that confession of a kind has him gaping at Edelgard once more. It takes him a moment to realize she's being (much more) serious this time around.

Felix isn't dumb not to know what that implies. And surprisingly... he does. Think of her as such as well. Somehow, in this world split from the trivialities of their day-to-day living, he finds that he could consider Edelgard a friend. Surprising as it might sound, he's... never really held a grudge towards her for being responsible for Dimitri's death in some manner. It's a consequence of war, the fault of not being strong enough and being there when it mattered most.

At that thought, Felix swallows, lowering his head as he stifles that dangerous surge of emotion.]

Yeah. I'll see you around then.

[Still, he appreciates her not spelling it out. It may be for her as much as it's for him, but with such thoughts leaving him too far vulnerable... he'd rather not sit on a strong affirmation. And with a nod, leaves his cup and saucer and takes his leave.]
