A mist settles in over the monastery.
Is it morning? Night? Who can say? Today, the day feels endless. The sun is nowhere to be seen — or had it been at all? Instead, a curious green glow engulfs Garreg Mach, like an eternal twilight settling in. Time seems to be paused almost, though the wildlife in and around the area continues to act as though nothing is wrong. As though this is perfectly normal. As though it is natural for the skies to be dark, with not a single star in sight, and for the sun to be forgotten in the mist that lingers. The paths are at least lit by small orbs of light, fireflies flitting about.
However, should one come into contact with one of those fireflies, a memory of the past will be projected for all in the close vicinity to see. Joyous occasions, tragic events — they don't seem to discern one way or another. Perhaps it would be best to watch your step for now, though.
Of course, after lingering for about a day, the strange ambience will fade into what appears to be a normal night at Garreg Mach. It's as if nothing had happened at all. Did it? Or was it all simply a shared hallucination?
[ ● MEMSHARE POST. Coming into contact with the fireflies will share a memory of your character's with those around them. You can top-level with a memory to start out or have people tag you and determine it then, whatever. I don't make the rules (except I do and I say yolo). Have fun with it!
● Open posts like this one are flipping to a two week schedule instead of a weekly one.
● Because of the above, the last bit is there for people who'd maybe like to play out aftermath threads later on but don't want to wait for a new post or make a new one.
● Settings have been slightly updated. ]

[What is so important about a silly dagger that it dwarfs everything else?! Did he know the dagger boy? Well, Felix is from the Kingdom, isn't he? That's certainly possible.]

He succeeds, but not enough to look Edelgard in the eye yet.]
...I helped pick out that dagger when I was young.

[That response feels lame. A recognition and yet nothing more. She hurries to put together something better.]
So you knew him. I cannot recall his name or his face, but his words are still with me to this day. Back then I did not have much control over my life, so "cutting my own path" meant a lot.
no subject
It sounds like something he might say.
[Felix frowns. But who knew it would cause this much pain and suffering in the long run? Not only on Felix's side of the war, but surely, Edelgard's side too.]

[She's worried he'll say "tell him your damn self," but she's not sure if she could work up the nerve to say this to the person she knew. He'd be a man now. She probably couldn't even pick him out if he stood in a line of people all from the Kingdom. All she remembers is that he reminded her of sunshine. Warm and bright even when she felt frozen like ice.]

[Felix doesn't know how soon he'll be seeing Dimitri, but given how often they seem to bump into each other despite Felix's conscious attempts to avoid him, it's probably only a matter of time. And tempted as he is to tell Edelgard who exactly that boy is then and there, even he could tell it's not the best moment for that revelation.]

[Obviously Edelgard isn't dead, but she feels as if she's no longer that little girl. That El had ceased to exist, and Edelgard is not completely human (which isn't completely inaccurate considering she got injected with thousand year old goddess blood). She views herself as detached from people. Alone and unable to connect. She's no longer a person, but a force meant to achieve her goals and then disappear from spotlight once things have stabilized.]

[She wonders if she'll ever see it again? Though the dagger was merely a symbol. The words were what really stuck with her.]

[That's rather unfortunate. Felix has his own set of mementos he keeps on his person as well--not that he's about to admit it--so he does understand the sentimentality of it to an extent, pointless as it might be.]
Why give it to me, though?

[Or maybe she's afraid that boy became just as twisted as she. Did he die in the Kingdom at a young age? Did one of her soldiers slaughter him as a nameless enemy at one point? Or is he alive, and well, and possibly resents the woman in red for throwing Fodlan into war.]
no subject
He'll keep what she said in mind, in any case.]
I don't think I'm suited for that hypothetical purpose, when you're the obvious better choice between us for that task. The dagger is important to you, not me.
[Felix sighs.]
I'll deliver your words to him, but that's all I'll do.
1/2
Very well. Thank you. The hypothetical is moot anyway, for I do not have the dagger on me.
[So she relents, and returns back to her tea.]

Is he still alive?
no subject
In... a way, [he says as he focuses on pouring himself another cup of tea, keeping his eyes on the pot rather than Edelgard. The boy that gave that dagger to her had long died in Duscur, after all.]
no subject
[Alive, but changed. A distorted projection of what he once was. How sad. She would have given anything to protect that bright smile of his.]
no subject
[Felix takes a sip of his tea, taking another slow breath.]
But what's done is done. There's no use in dwelling on the past.
[Says a person still bound by it, no matter how he tries to posture otherwise.]
no subject
[She appreciates his help, she truly does. Her sharp reply is out of gratitude, not disrespect. Because a man like him... he doesn't like sweet things. So she will not be sweet. Instead she will be a reflection of him to show Felix how his words sound coming from someone so similar.]
no subject
I try.
[The cup lands back on the plate with a clatter much louder than is warranted. Guess who doesn't like getting served a taste of his own medicine.]
no subject
I suppose that is all one can ask of another.
no subject
Whatever. Do what you want.
[Which might as well be the case, childish as it sounds, considering he's about done with his tea anyway.]

[Gently she rests her cup on its saucer. A steep contrast to the way he brought his down.]
no subject
[You were a friend. However considering he lives in a world where he probably helped kill her that's probably not the best thing to say. So she doesn't.
To protect her own vulnerability, and his.]
Anyway, you may be excused. That is all I had to say.
no subject
Felix isn't dumb not to know what that implies. And surprisingly... he does. Think of her as such as well. Somehow, in this world split from the trivialities of their day-to-day living, he finds that he could consider Edelgard a friend. Surprising as it might sound, he's... never really held a grudge towards her for being responsible for Dimitri's death in some manner. It's a consequence of war, the fault of not being strong enough and being there when it mattered most.
At that thought, Felix swallows, lowering his head as he stifles that dangerous surge of emotion.]
Yeah. I'll see you around then.
[Still, he appreciates her not spelling it out. It may be for her as much as it's for him, but with such thoughts leaving him too far vulnerable... he'd rather not sit on a strong affirmation. And with a nod, leaves his cup and saucer and takes his leave.]
